VMware - Product Lead

Product Lead & Manager for VMware Tanzu, helping to develop and deliver a complete stack, from infrastructure to application, to help enterprises build, run and manage modern applications with enhanced agility, security and efficiency. Responsible for line managing and hiring Product Managers in London, helping them with product practice, understanding their career drivers and advocating for stretch opportunities for them.

February 2017 - December 2019

Pivotal - Product Lead

Product Lead for the Marketplace Programme, responsible for 20+ people across 4 product teams shipping multiple products for the Fortune 500. Manager of other Product Managers and responsible for hiring, coaching and developing the next generation of Pivotal Product Managers working across multiple product lines. Elected as Co-Chair of the Open Service Broker API project, a collaboration between Pivotal, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Redhat, SAP and more that defines a standard allowing SaaS vendors a simple and elegant way to deliver services to applications running on cloud-native platforms such as Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes.

Pivotal was acquired by VMware in December 2019.

August 2015 - January 2017

Flexi - Co-Founder

Co-founded a fitness platform called ‘Flexi’ enabling users to easily discover and book more than 3,000 fitness classes every week. Flexi was acquired in January 2017. Designed, built and launched the iOS and Android apps, website branding and marketing materials, reaching #1 in the App Store ‘Fitness Classes & Services’ category. Led fundraising efforts to secure seed funding. Developed partnerships with more than 150 fitness studios and independent organisers in London. Analysed signups, behaviours and referrals across all the apps to improve user experience, interfaces and to prioritise updates, leading to improved marketing spend, engagement and retention. Created multi-channel marketing campaigns and continually optimised digital channels using analytics and split testing to reduce acquisition costs and increase the conversion rates. Set up a CI/CD pipeline enabling zero-downtime deployments to a containerised architecture in Amazon Web Services that automatically scaled based on demand.

March 2014 - July 2015

KatchUp - Product Manager

KatchUp was a privacy-focused photo and video sharing platform for families and friends. Managed the development, launch and growth of the platform from idea to more than 20,000 users. Recruited and line managed the development and design teams (seven people) and reduced overall staff costs by £150,000 p.a. Developed and prioritised new features and bug fixes by analysing behaviours, performing user interviews and running remote user experiments, using the acquired data to drive product decisions. Integrated multiple cloud-based APIs for on-demand file storage, optimised content delivery, photo editing and printing.

December 2012 - March 2014

Broadcom - Software Engineer

Software development, client support and integration of the Android OS with Broadcom’s Video-Core multimedia platform for mobile consumer devices. Optimised and improved the camera firmware and Linux kernel drivers in a range of smartphones, enabling faster shutter speeds and higher quality photos. Created an automated camera test suite that was executed after any code change to prevent regressions and maintain the camera quality across multiple chipsets and devices. Analysed and resolved complex issues encountered during the launch of new products and chipsets.

July 2009 - August 2009

BAE Systems - Software Engineering Internship

Designed and developed a live 3D modeling application demonstrating vehicle tracking and remote vehicle control technology. The project specification included real-time renderings and providing the ability for users to make vehicle changes from a remote location. This project covered all stages of the software engineering lifecycle from concept through to acceptance and integration testing.
